The ceremony
Cambridge City Hall is a short ceremony in a historic room, and the coverage is built around that: the two of them at the front, the vows, the first kiss as a married couple, the faces of the people who came. I photograph in the room as permitted, quietly, and get the details on the way in and out: the rings, the flowers, the hallway, a black-and-white of their hands.
Portraits after
Afterward, we walked through Cambridge for portraits before the evening celebration — outside the building, Taylor with her flowers by a tree, the two of them out front, a close embrace, a few frames in the hallway on the way out. A city hall wedding gives you an hour of unhurried portraits with nowhere else to be, which is more than most full-day weddings manage.
The celebration
The day finished with the cake — a detail shot, a black-and-white close-up — and the evening with the people who'd been in the room. Joy doesn't have to be loud to be unforgettable, and this was the proof.
