John didn't want to leave anything to chance — he started planning with me months in advance. We met up at Fan Pier in the Seaport a few weeks before the day to walk through the full plan in person: the timing, the route, where I'd be tucked away, the backup plan if anything went sideways. By the day, John didn't have to think about logistics. All he had to do was bring Hannah and ask the question. He led her down the waterfront like it was any other evening, knelt, and she said yes. The plan was done. He was present. That's how it should feel.
