The plan
He wanted the Seaport — somewhere with the water behind them and the city skyline stretching out. We talked through the timing, the walk-up, where I'd be posted without being spotted. Once that was settled, Jay didn't have to think about it again; that's what handing it off early buys you.
The moment
On the day, everything clicked. He walked Amrita along the waterfront like it was just another evening out, then pulled her in close and knelt. The look on her face was everything — and the embrace right after is the frame I'd pick from the whole set.
Portraits after
We stayed and wandered the Seaport together for portraits while the light was still golden: laughing by the water, a quiet one, a walk along the waterfront, the skyline behind them at the end. Amrita put it well in her review — some direction when it helped, and otherwise the two of them just being themselves.
If you're planning a Seaport proposal
- Hand off the logistics early. The calmest proposals are the ones where the planner has nothing left to hold on the day.
- Ask for the skyline behind you, not beside you — I'll pick the stretch of waterfront where it lines up.
